Celebrating a Decade of Service: Roosevelt High School Interact Club
February 25th marked a significant milestone for the Roosevelt High School Interact Club as it joyfully celebrated its 10th anniversary. Established in 2014 by RHS Alumni Madison Buhre, this club has evolved from humble beginnings to become a beacon of community service and engagement in the Johnstown Milliken area.
Under the dedicated guidance of sponsor Mrs. Jennifer Boresen, who is now a member of the Johnstown Milliken Rotary Club, Interact Club has flourished. Starting with just four officers and 13 members, it has now expanded to a robust officer team of nine and boasts over 200 enthusiastic members. Last semester alone, the club provided over 200 hours of community service, participating in various initiatives including football clean-ups, downtown events, PTO meetings, Hunger Heroes, and library events.
Meilani Cano who is an RHS senior, RYLA participant, and Rotary Student of the Month for December, serves as Co-President. She reflected on her four-year journey with the club, highlighting how it has nurtured her passion for service and offered diverse avenues for involvement. Co-President Richard Boresen, who is a 2022 Teen Impact Award winner and RYLA participants, is committed to further expanding the club's reach, emphasizing inclusivity and community engagement.
Annabelle Rusco, 2022 Teen Impact Award winner and Interact Co-Vice President, emphasizes the personal growth and meaningful relationships fostered through club activities.
The anniversary celebration was a testament to the club's impact, drawing founding members, past officers, Rotarians, family, and current members together in celebration.
Rotarian sponsor Willie Grauberger expresses pride in the club's remarkable growth and profound community influence, dubbing it the "best monster" he's ever seen. Indeed, the Roosevelt High School Interact Club stands as a testament to the power of youth-driven service and its transformative potential within the Johnstown Milliken community. Congratulations to the RHS Interact Club from the Johnstown Johnstown-Milliken Rotary Club on this momentous milestone!
